Certifications, Registrations & Designations — Detailed Guide

When applying zeolite to a real business, document-based credibility is just as important as the product's physical properties. This page summarizes the key certifications, registrations and designations that can be verified against publicly available KMI documentation, including specific registration numbers and validity periods.

Detailed Description by Certification

OMRI Listed — KMI-10365

OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) is the body that reviews and registers materials usable in organic farming and organic livestock production in accordance with the U.S. organic standard (NOP, National Organic Program).

  • Registration number: KMI-10365
  • Registration date: January 25, 2018
  • Expiration date: March 1, 2027
  • Classification: NOP Allowed
  • Applications: Organic soil amendment, organic livestock feed ingredient (Livestock Feed Ingredient)

This certification means that zeolite is a material usable at organic-certified farms and livestock facilities.

USFDA GRAS — 21 CFR Parts 182.2729 & 582.2729

GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) is the classification recognized by the U.S. FDA for substances "generally recognized as safe."

  • 21 CFR 182.2729: Safety standard for food-related substances
  • 21 CFR 582.2729: Safety standard for animal feed-related substances
  • Feed application: permitted for anti-caking purposes only, at 2% or less of the total feed formulation

This certification means that zeolite can be used as a feed ingredient without toxicity concerns under FDA standards. However, for feed applications, the anti-caking purpose and the formulation limit (2%) must be observed.

EN-71-3 — European Toy Safety Standard PASS

EN-71-3 (Safety of Toys Part 3) is a test that specifies the heavy-metal migration limits for materials used in toys in Europe.

  • Test items: Antimony (Sb), Arsenic (As), Barium (Ba), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Selenium (Se) and more
  • Result: PASS
  • Meaning: Meets heavy-metal migration limits at a level safe even if placed in a child's mouth

This result serves as a key safety basis for consumer goods, pet environments, cat litter raw materials and similar applications.

California Prop 65

Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) is a California law that mandates warnings for carcinogens and reproductive-toxicity substances.

  • Result: Compliant (no warning obligation applicable)
  • Meaning: No carcinogenic or reproductive-toxicity substances were detected under California standards

As one of the strictest hazardous-substance standards in the world, this compliant result serves as a safety basis for all uses.

The Relationship Between Certifications and Actual Application

Having a certification does not mean it automatically applies to every use. The following points must always be reviewed together.

ConsiderationDescription
Differences in national regulationsA U.S. certification may not be recognized identically in Korea or the EU
Additional use-specific regulationsFeed, drinking water, construction materials and others each require separate regulatory verification
Verify the latest documentsRenewable certifications such as OMRI require checking the validity period
Local licensingFor import and distribution in Korea, separate verification with the MFDS, RDA, Ministry of Environment and others is required
